Kuwait is a small country, which is situated on the cost of Persian Gulf. Just strategic location ensure to Kuwait petroleum treasure. Due to the high petroleum reserves, Kuwait is one of the richest countries in region. The capital city is called Kuwait City.

Kuwait is covered mainly by desert, whole area is flat. However cost is rugged. Kuwait has nine islands. The Persian Gulf offers to tourist many opportunities, trips to islands, pearl diving, different types of water sports or just fishing.

Kuwait is a constitutional monarchy with parliament. Whole country is consisted by six governorates (Al Ahmadi, Al Farwaniyah, Al Asimah, Al Jahra, Hawalli, and Mubarak Al-Kabber).

National Museum is composed by four buildings and planetarium. We can find there traditional Islamic art, pearl-diving relics, archaeological things from Failaka Island and ethnographic relics.

The Tareq Rajab Museum (click for more information)

This museum was founded by Rajab family, there is mainly collection of traditional Islamic things, but we can also find there collections from Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet. All things are the private collection of the Rajab family from 20th century.

Population in Kuwait is around 3 100 000 inhabitants. The majority ethnic group is Arabic (60%) and Persian (30%). Because of developed petroleum industry, many foreigners’ workers have immigrated here e.g. Assyrians, Egyptians, and Pakistanis

History of Kuwait

There are not significant mentions of early civilization in Kuwait. Probably first tribes settled in Kuwait in 2nd century AD. In the 18th century the Kuwait City was founded, and became and autonomous area. In the end of 18th century and beginning of 19th century Kuwait was part of Ottoman Empire. In the end of 19th century Kuwait was under British protection and 1961 became independent on Britain. From 1990 to 1991 Kuwait was a part of the Persian Gulf War, when Iraq annexed Kuwait. US and British army helped Kuwait manage the war and meet the attack.

Culture

Kuwait culture is very open to foreign and it is characterize for a rich hospitality. Traditional is serving tee and coffee as well as typical meals. Unique for Kuwait is Diwaniah, the institution, where males meet and discuss. Diwaniah is a symbol of Kuwait’s democracy.
