Acapulco (click for more information)
Acapulco is one Mexico’s most important and famous beach resorts, but its tempo is more urban than resort. It is located on the Pacific coast, 395 kilometers (245 miles) from Mexico City. Check out the infamous La Quebrada, where fearless cliff divers plunge into the ocean below. Acapulco is a party city with a 24/7 beat. Dining is really diverse, not only in cuisine, but also in setting. In Acapulco most restaurants are alfresco, and many offer breathtaking views of Acapulco Bay. Shopping is excellent, either in the American-style malls, or at the bright, bustling downtown mercados.

Baja Peninsula (click for more information)
Baja is the world's longest peninsula. It is divided into the two states of Baja California and Baja California Sur - north and south. It includes the resort areas of Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada, La Paz, Loreto, Rosarito, San Felipe, San Jose Del Cabo, and Buena Vista - to name a few of the larger ones. It also boasts of major, modern cities such as Tijuana and Mexicali. During peak summer months, Magdalena Bay is perfect for scuba diving, kayaking, sport fishing. Just southeast of El Rosario, Mex 1 snakes its way up to Baja's Central Desert and the famous boulder fields of Catavin. Baja is rich in history from the Missionary Era, which began in the early 1500's and ended 300 years later when all the missions were secularized by the Mexican government. This area exists on over 2000 miles of coastline of the Pacific.

Cancun – Yucatan Penninsula (click for more information)
The Yucatan Pennisula is made up of the three states: Campeche (capital city -Campeche), Chetumal (Quintana Roo), and Merida (Yucatan) and of course the major resort areas of Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen. Around here, the ruins of the past are plentiful. Some of the major Mexican Archeological sites include Chichen Itza, Coba, Edzna, Kabah, Tulum and Uxma. Cancun with its sub-tropical climate is Mexico’s most important tourist destination and one of the world’s most well-known resorts. Cancun is the Caribbean at its best - turquoise-blue water and powder white sandy beaches. Activities: water sports, snorkeling, scuba diving, parachuting, or relaxing and enjoying the fine services offered in the hotel zone. The hotel strip runs for more than 30 kilometers (nearly 19 miles) and travelers will find something there to suit any pocket as well as restaurants, shopping malls, bars and discos.

Copper Canyon (click for more information)
Barranca del Cobre (Copper Canyon) in the northwestern state of Chihuahua is nestled in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. It is really a series of canyons – together they are four times the size of the Grand Canyon in the USA – although these are narrower, deeper and more verdant. Visit the simple homes of the reclusive Tarahumara Indians, descendants of the Aztecs who still live like they did thousands of years ago. Explore Copper Canyon hiking, biking, four-wheeling or driving (although roads in some areas will require a 4x4), however the most popular is to take the Copper Canyon Train ride, which runs from Los Mochis to Chihuahua City and back again. Ride the historic Chihuahua al Pacifico Railroad, one of the most dramatic and scenic train rides in the world. Make sure you book in advance. If you’re coming from the USA, El Paso is the closest American gateway to the Copper Canyon.

Everything from snorkeling, diving, sun bathing, exploring Mexican ruins in the Tulum Corridor, breathtaking views, vibrant night life or a peaceful island lifestyle await visitors to this little piece of paradise. Located so near to Cancun, Isla is an easy destination to reach, but you'll soon feel like you are a world away. How to get there: the ferry leaves from Puerto Juarez in Cancun. For those with a car, you'll want to head a little further north about 5 miles to Punta Sam to find the car ferry.

At Los Cabos the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez (also called the Gulf of California) come together. UNESCO declared 244 islands and protected areas of the Sea of Cortez a World Heritage Site. Mexico City (click for more information)
Mexico City, the oldest metropolis on the American continent, is located about 2,240 meters (7,392 feet) above sea level. Towering high above the city’s southeast side are two volcanoes: Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. In north Mexico City, visit the Basilica de Guadalupe, one of the most visited basilicas in the world. Hop off the Metro at Insurgentes Station, Line 1 and stroll down the Genova, the main drag of the Zona Rosa, Mexico City´s famous Pink Zone (happily it is a walking street) and browse in the shops, have a bite and a drink and people watch. The 24/7 Zona Rosa is also a gay-friendly area, with a lot of gay club, bars and cafés. For those who want to chill out, Chapultepec Park is an enormous green area in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of this fast paced city.

Why to visit Mexico

Mexico is a world that is rooted in the past, in the hidden mysteries of the Mayans, the Aztecs and the Olmecs. Home to a third of all Spanish speakers in the world, Mexico is a rapidly growing country with a vibrant economy. Although poverty is being reduced and purchasing power of the middle class increased, inequality remains a problem and huge gaps exist not only between rich and poor but also between the north and the south of the country as well as the urban and the rural areas.

Mexico is located between the Gulf of Mexico on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the West. It is bordered by the USA on the north and by Guatemala and Belize in the South.

Covering almost two million square kilometers, Mexico is the 5th largest country in America by total area and the 14th largest in the world with a population of almost 109 million.

Mexico’s national identity is reflected (and blessed) by the heritage of its native peoples and their colorful art, cuisines, dances, languages and religious festivals. Tourists come to Mexico to explore Mayan ruins, kayak Baja's Sea of Cortes, buy crafts in Oaxaca's colorful markets, hike the Copper Canyon, or relax in a wilderness lodge or an elegant hacienda in the Yucatan, not forgetting to pay a visit to the grand colonial cities of Puebla, Veracruz and Merida.

Diverse Mexico can accommodate many different options and ways of traveling according to your travel style and your wallet: from sunny beaches to business centers; from archaeological zones to nature and adventure trails; from luxury spa resorts to magnificent golf courses.

Thousands of miles of beaches and the coastal resort cities of Acapulco, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, as well as Cozumel and the Baja Peninsula, have transformed Mexico into one of the most popular holiday and honeymoon destinations on the planet.

The enormous Mexico City metro with its growing population (over 21 million), variety of tasty foods, infectious music in many styles and Spanish history, is quite possibly one of the most captivating cities in the world. This vast city has a fascinating range of great museums. Get a feeling for the city with drinks or dinner from the 45th floor of the World Trade Center. The revolving restaurant Bellini offers stunning views of the whole city. The Zócalo is Latin America's largest main square at over 13 acres. This is a good place to start exploring the Mexico City.

Viva Mexico!
