Why to visit Montenegro

Montenegro with its breathtaking diversity of landscapes and climates, overwhelming cultural and architectural heritage and seducing beauty of unexplored wilderness is considered to be the most shining pearl of Mediterranean. No wonder that thanks to its blue Adriatic Sea with sugar sandy beaches, soaring mountains, wild forests, glacial lakes, and crystal clear rivers Montenegro became a dream tourist destination.

Situated in the South-eastern Europe squashed between the Adriatic Sea, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Albania, Montenegro lies on the crossroads between the South and West that ended in creation of uniquely multicultural, multiethnic and multi religious country.

The surprising diversity of landscapes within such a small territory reflects the diversity of climates, going from the coastal dry and hot weather with summer temperatures around 30°C to the sub alpine climate with rough snowy winters. Montenegro's numerous natural rarities, complicated history, and long spiritual traditions attract thousands of amazed tourists in every year season.

Montenegro's People

Montenegro's population is an unbelievable mixture of nations starting with Montenegrins and Serbs, over Bosniaks, Albanians, Muslims, Croats and many others. Cooperating with NATO during the war conflict in neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, almost 10% of the population is made of refugees. The way of life of Montenegro's people was always influenced by wars. Being constantly forced to defend themselves against the enemies, Montenegrins developed the national love for freedom and desire to fight for it even to death, which was the biggest honour for warriors. Even in the contemporary society still persists observing of the moral code of bravery and humanity.

Culture

Successfully attempting to extricate from all domination, Montenegro was over its long history influenced by ancient Greece and Rome, Christianity, Islam, Byzantine Empire, Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary Empire, Yugoslavia and many other impacts. Hence it flows the unimaginable amount of architectural, historical and culture heritage. The rough warlike nature of Montenegro's people also preserved traditions like law of vendetta or spectacular dances, performed in circle standing on one other's shoulders, when music is replaced with sonorous group singing.

What to do in Montenegro

Thanks to the exceptional attitude to nature as a priority, there are four national parks and many other remarkably beautiful places protected by law occupying almost one third of the Montenegro territory. Thus exploring of the natural jewels as well as relaxing on the fine sandy beaches and entertaining in vibrant coastal cities are the main attractions for numerous visitors. Three spectacular Montenegro' s sites, mountain Durmitor, Tara River Canyon, and old city of Kotor, found their unique place on the UNESCO World Heritage List and permanently persuade their visitors they are really worth seeing.
