Why to visit Morocco

Morocco is a kingdom in the north-west corner of Africa and the official name in Arabic Al-Mamlaka al-Maghribiya means Western Kingdom. The name Morocco originates in the name of former capital Marrakech. Rich history of this country is widely known but there are many other tourist attractions as Sahara desert, Atlas mountains, sandy beaches and extraordinary cities, for example famous port of Casablanca or the nowadays capital Rabat.

Weather and Relief

The geographical location of the country speaks for itself. The climate is Mediterranean in the coastal areas but becomes harsher towards the inland. Summers are dry and hot, extreme temperatures are very common, climatic conditions in the mountains and on the desert are sometimes nearly brutal. Winters might bring cool and wet weather.

Coastal areas are quite friendly and most of the forests and agricultural fields are located here, the inland of the country is covered mainly by sandy deserts.

Culture

The history of the country is very long and quite lively, the place in between Mediterranean and the Atlantic and Europe and Africa had often been a meeting point of many different peoples as Carthaginians, Phoenicians, Jews, Arabs, African tribes, Romans, Vandals and many others. The startling mess of various societies made the people to be more tolerant and respectful to others. There are only some countries where such mixture resulted in extraordinary and unique culture. Music, traditions, cuisine and architecture are all incomparable to anything else.

What to do there

Any kind of traveller will be fully satisfied when visiting Morocco because the country has a lot to offer to anybody. It really does not matter whether you are a sport maniac, history lover or admirer of architecture. Poetic towns and cities with captivating and mystical names, solitary customs and traditions, diverse nature in any season or sporting facilities and opportunities are just some temptations that will draw you to this country.
