Government also works on projects to diversify the economy, so also fertilizers and steel are produced. Of the whole work force, women make up only 7 percents.

Population and culture of Qatar

Most of the Qatari are Muslims professing Islam. But except for Arabs, also a many inhabitants have moved there within the context of country’s oil industry. The official language is Arabic, and English is also wide spoken. The basis of the government is Wahhabi law. A Bedouin culture, which can be still strongly felt in the society, is inherited in Qatar. It is based on literature, especially poetry and songs, and also dances. Not many traces in area of fine art and architecture were left by Bedouin culture. Many gorgeous handicrafts are produced. The area most known is jewellery, including al mirtaesha - golden necklace covering the chest down to the waist, the al kaff – a golden bracelet almost completely covering the hand, and the al tasa - a head decoration.
