Why to visit Rwanda

Rwanda, officially the Republic of Rwanda, is in-country in east-central Africa. Population of Rwanda is approximately 10 million citizens. The country borders with four states, that are Uganda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania. Rwanda is a small country in comparison with its neighbors. The capital city is Kigali and the official languages are Kinyarwanda, French and English.

Kigali

The capital and the largest city of Rwanda founded in 1907 under German colonial rule. Kigali is located in the center of the country. It is a significant place for economy, culture and transport.

Kigali became the capital city in 1962 and it also became a home to Rwanda's political scene. Regarding the transportation, it is easy to drive a car by yourself in the streets of the city. The other options of the transportation are mini-vans, taxis and moto taxis. The city has an international airport (Kigali International Airport), which has various passenger connections, but daily only to Nairobi.

Culture

Culture of Rwanda is interesting mainly in two ways: music and literature. The music consists largely of African folk music, which is interpreted by its people. African music is important for a dance called the ikinimba, that tells the stories about heroes and kings of Rwanda. It is probably the most revered musical tradition in the country. The literature was divided into two categories: formal and non-formal literature, which was, of course, more popular. Today, it is more admired storytelling and public speaking.

Climate

Rwanda lies close to the equator, so the climate is tropical, but snow and frost can be seen in the mountains. There are dry and rainy seasons. Dry season is usually from July to September and in January. Rainy season is from February to May and short season from November through December. Rainfall is heavier in the west. Average temperature is 21°C (70°F).

Summary

For those, who like Africa or just exotic countries, is Rwanda a great opportunity to visit. Unique fauna and flora may be seen in national parks such as Akagera National Park or Parc National des Volcans. You will have a chance to learn about Rwanda's culture too.
