Sweden, officially the Kingdom of Sweden, is a Nordic country on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. It is surrounded by Finland, Norway and the Baltic Sea and it is also linked to Denmark by the Öresund Bridge.
With only 9 million people, Sweden is a small nation in terms of population. Perhaps this is why foreigners are often surprised when they realize the geographic size of Sweden. Physically, Sweden is one of the largest countries in Western Europe - nearly the same size as Spain or France.
In the space of only half a century Sweden has changed itself from a poor, underdeveloped agrarian country into one of the world's most modern and prosperous welfare states

Höga Kusten (click for more information)
A part of the Swedish coast on the Gulf of Bothnia and notable as the "type area" for research on isostacy, in which the land rises as the weight of the glaciers melts off of it. This phenomenon was first recognised and studied there; since the last ice age the land has risen 800 m, which accounds for the unusual landscape with tall cliff formations.
