Turkey - A bridge between two continents

Ankara – is Turkey´s capital city with more than 5 million inhabitants. It was declared the capital of the new Turkish Republic on the 13th October, 1923.

Cappadocia – the name is derived from Persian: Katpatuka meaning "the land of beautiful horses". Cappadocia is the name for extensive inland district of Asia Minor. The rocks of Cappadocia create hundreds of impressive pillars and minaret-like forms caused by erosion.

Efes is the Turkish name for the ancient city of Ephesus that was one of the great cities of the Greeks in Asia Minor. Efes is located near the Aegean Sea. It is the best-preserved Roman city in Turkey. The most famous sights are The Library of Celsus or The Temple of Artemis.

Istanbul – is the largest city, the largest port in Turkey and the country’s chief commercial, financial and cultural centre. When talking about Istanbul’s primacy, then it should be mentioned that Istanbul is the second-largest supplier of clothing to the EU. The original name of this settlement was Constantinople, ancient Byzantium. It was formerly the capital of the Byzantine Empire, of the Ottoman Empire, and-until 1923-of the Turkish republic.

The Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque) with its characteristic six minarets has become world famous. Among other world known sights should be mentioned Hagia Sophia Church, also called Aya Sofya, Topkapi palace, square Hipodrom – formerly the centre of Byzantine civic life.

Olimpos is a national park situated 80 km southwest of Antalya on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. This national park hides a number of interesting places such as the ruins of the ancient city Olympos.

Paragliding – Turkey is proud of one of the best places in the world for paragliding and every year thousands of paragliders from all over the world visit Turkey to enjoy fantastic flights with the view of the deep blue water and long white sand beaches.
