Canoeing down the Mississippi River (click for more information)

The great number and variety of Mississippi's waterways offer lively currents, big woods, abundant wildlife, plenty of a solitude and debunk the stereotype of muddy, stagnant sloughs harbouring clouds of mosquitoes and swarms of snakes. Moving downstream
to the southwest, there are several broad vistas with grey-blue water, flanked by green willows and distant, white sand beaches. The Mississippi River offers the rock-walled creeks, the black water brooks, gem-clear streams and sparkling tributaries and ox-bow lakes.
