Why to visit Denmark

Kingdom of Denmark, usually named Denmark, in Danish Kongeriget Danmark is land of Europe, which is placed half on large peninsula Jutland and half on the islands in Baltic and North Sea. To Denmark belongs next the Faroe Islands and the Greenland. Denmark is industrial-agronomic land. It has the biggest share of acreage on the whole area on the World – 65 %. All the country is mainly shaped by plains – the highest “mountain” is Yding Skovhoj, 173 meters high.

History of Denmark – offensive Vikings

Denmark is very old country – the finds of flints shows that the first peoples lived in this part of Europe two hundred thousands years ago. In 6th century came into Denmark the Vikings. Their conqueror longings then work the Danish history for a long time. During its history Denmark swayed territory of England, Norway, Sweden, part of Baltic shore and north Germany. However thanks to bad reign in the process the Denmark lost all this countries and today it is one of smaller countries in Europe. From 1849 is Denmark again the constitutional monarchy, present head of the state is Queen Margaret II.

Live in Denmark

Denmark has one of the lowest number of population in Europe and more than 1/3 its inhabitants (around 1, 6 million people) live in suburb of the main city Copenhagen. Thanks its flat landscape is Denmark the bride country for bicycling. Bicycle is the most used vehicle. In towns and villages the bikers has reserved your traffic lane. Because there are many islands in Denmark, big importance has for Danish the train-ferry lines. Today works around 70 ferries. They provide the connection with the Danish islands, but also with Sweden, England and Germany.

Legoland – image of the world in brick-boxes LEGO

The most world famous thing from Denmark is surprisingly not any cultural or architectural object – in the 1949 Ole Kirk Christiansen established the company whose products celebrated Denmark in whole world. In village Billund, near the Vejle town there is a big fun-fair, where are the world-known buildings built from the LEGO brick-boxes.

Denmark – land of evermore green lawns

The humid weather and frequent rains provides in Denmark especially perfect conditions for the lawns for football or golf. So you can find almost in every village the courts where you can play one of these most popular sports.

Danish bridges – architectural jewels for daily use

Many islands of Kingdom of Denmark are today joined with the others with the big and often long bridges. But every bridge is not only the utility architecture – it is also the work of art. Stately steel colossuses are often cable-stayed above the sea, so you can envision you are awash. The nicest and biggest bridges are the Oresund Bridge (Copenhagen-Malmö/SWE) and Storebaelt Bridge (Korsor-Nyberg).

Why visit Denmark?

If you like the land without big hills to comfortable cycling and with big plains of green, where you can every time play the football or golf, the Denmark is the right country for you. Although the local nature has not any big tourist attractions, it is virgin clear without industry pollution so very nice.
