Just like everywhere else, Christmas is important event of the year in Germany, and also it has its uniqueness typical for this region. Excellent way to experience German Christmas is to visit one of traditional Christmas markets that are held in most cities and towns in Germany. Here you can taste popular delicacies, such as gingerbread, potato pancakes, roasted chestnuts, hot fruit punch or hot spiced wine. And off course you cannot return home without a nice small gift! Probably the most popular German festival, Oktorberfest, isn’t held in October, as one could think, but mostly in September, so that it takes place in the last warm sun rays before cold autumn. Apart from Oktoberfest there are several other festivals that should not be forgotten when speaking about interesting events in Germany. Opera festival is held during summer in Munich. You can feast your eyes and ears on the opera here as well as ballet performed by national as well as foreign artists. No wonder that this festival is so popular in Germany, many famous musicians were born here and Germany values their legacy. International festival of snow and ice is held in Lubeck and you can see here magnificent sculptures made only from ice and snow. This more than 210 miles long road abounding with interesting and beatiful places was build after World War II. to attract turists to recovering Germany. Its foundations, though, are much older and were once a Roman hightway. The road winds around forests and rivers, towns and villages, where you can find various architectonic and historic interests. For example Marienberg Fortress in Würzburg, Karlsberg Nature Park near Weikersheim, thimble museum in the village near Creglingen, Christman Village, where Christmas is every day, located in Rothenburg, which is full of unusual historic interests, and many others.

Plentiful pine trees and shadowy valleys are the reason for such eerie name of this vaste forest, but that shouldn’t stop you from visiting it! Of course, there are also mysterious stories about werewolfs and witches living in the dark recesses of this perhaps biggest forest in Germany, but one must take some risks when they want to see really interesting places. And that is exactly what you find in the Black Forest. Beautiful nature, where woodcutting is permitted only under very strict supervision, and old villages, that are nearly the same as they were 300 years ago...

Beethoven's well-known composition is the Symphony No. 9. He was also a great pianist. Regardig the german literature and music, it was influenced by Sturm und Drang ("Storm and Stress") movement in the 18th century. Notable proponents of this movement were writers like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz and musical composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach and others.

Germany has warm summers and mild cloudy winters with snowing. Climate is influenced by warm winters from the North Sea. Average winter temperature is about 3°C and summer about 22°C. Sudden weather changes are rare, but possible. The mountain weather is cooler and more rainy. However, rain can be expected throughout the country all year.
