The Republic of Ireland shares its borders with the Northern Ireland to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Irish Sea to the east. The west coast is mountainous, and the inland is typical of agricultural lowlands with many lakes, hills and bogs. January and February are Ireland’s coldest months in Ireland, July and August are warmest and May and June are the sunniest.

Irish People

From the population of 4, 1 million people, 86.8% are nominally Roman Catholic. The second is Church of Ireland (Anglican), and Islam is also one of religion of the Republic of Ireland. Country’s first official language is Irish, or Irish Gaelic, which is a Celtic language. However, the more common is the second official language – English. The Republic of Ireland is a member of European Union. The country has a developed economy.

Irish culture

Ireland plays an important cultural role. Many famous writers, among them George Berkeley, Jonathan Swift, James Joyce, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, and Bram Stoker are of Irish origin. Some of them were even the Nobel price laureates. Very famous is also traditional Irish music and Irish dances.
